There aren't to many applications tougher on knife blades than in the Tire Shredding business.  Used tires contain sand, grit, water, and an occasional wrench, not to mention other exotic materials.  All of these combine to wreak havoc on hook blades.  Postle Industries has been committed to the Tire Shredding industry for many years.  As a result, the Company has enjoyed great success with an alloy developed specifically for hook knives:

Postalloy ® Super-Edge

Postalloy® Super-Edge is a highly alloyed Tool Steel, specifically developed to retain a cutting edge even in the roughest of environments.  It's tough, it's hard, it's heat resistant, it's corrosion resistant and most importantly, it avoids chipping from tramps within the used tire.   Knife life can easily be doubled or tripled in most cases.  Even higher figures have been reported.  Extended knife life is dependent upon a number of factors including rotor speed, condition of tires, knife alignment and general maintenance practices.  

The wire is available in two sizes, .045" and 1/16" diameter, allowing flexibility, edge control and retention during the welding process.  It's spatter free and deposits are slag free, making cleanup easy and efficient.  The wire has been formulated to yield high deposition rates to enhance your productivity.  Special wire lubrication and temper ensures excellent feeding and trouble free welding.  A welders' delight.
